What does Dell have other than a great distribution stratagy ?

There is much more to manufacturing than distribution. There are some interesting reads on the early days of Ford for a historical reference to what revolutionary build processes can do to a mfg concern.

Its interesting to me that this keeps coming up again and again even though as kids we all know that Henry Ford invented the assembly line as his major contribution to the auto industry. How is this any different?

PS I figure with a name like Roger Smith youd appreciate the auto analogy. <gg>
