Dear flickerful, do let's stop beating up on len (who really doesn't deserve it) long enough to concentrate on these quotations. They describe love as I mean the word. Not all the "hearts and flowers" stuff, which is like wallpaper--it can enhance a room whose proportions are beautiful, but it can't conceal the ugliness of an ill-proportioned one. And the room is beautful without it. O.K., len? It sounds at times as though you are objecting to the wallpaper rather than the room.
