Hi Dale, Your correct IOM hasn't stated that Jaz I was discontinued. When the question was posed in the last conference call Sierk danced around the Jaz I question stating that they continue to promote Jaz II, ( not a quote but words to that effect ). This is what lead to my statement of demise. The analyzing of price points between a Zip 100 the Zip 250 the Jaz I and II puts Jaz I as an odd man out. They are now selling the Zip 250 at $199. and the Jaz II at around $299 there isn't room in between the $199 and $299 price to put another product and not cannibalize something, IMO. But you are still correct to my knowledge there hasn't been a definitive statement of demise for Jaz I. >>As far as the Zip 250 goes, I believe its time has come and it should do very well. I'd bet they'll even make a profit on the drive. I do wonder if retail Zip 100 sales will be impacted in the short-term by customers who may wait to buy the new drive. I'm also curious if the Iomega is attempting to sell the box makers on the 250, or if it is solely intended for retail.<< The box makers have been making a haul on IOM. IMO they don't do anyone favors, they are for themselves. Just think about it for a second, they're buying these drives from IOM for around the $40 range and selling them as add ons for $99. Plus any disks that they can tack on the bill. They have to love IOM. These are getting to be an easy sell, everybody's heard of them, a standard question when selling a system is not do you want a Zip ? it's you want a Zip don't you ? And many say yes, ring up an extra $79.00 except now the power users will want a Zip 250, ring up $199.extra. Just one other comment I bet they're ready to ship. Best Regards Reseller
