An interview with Big Chief Wooden Face in which he discusses strategy and DELL. Victor

infoworld.com

Here is a minor extract:

"InfoWorld: Now that you are heading up a $37 billion company, during the course of one month in doing your job here how much time do you think about Dell?

Pfeiffer: Let me give you the three corporate initiatives, not in any particular ranked order. It is integration -- that is an absolute must. This is the biggest acquisition in the computer industry, and we knew that quite well when we made the decision that we had to do that part well to make it a success. Second, is ODM, Optimized Distribution Model. ODM is crucial for Compaq to remain the industry leader and to continue extending our market share. The third is customer satisfaction. Why [are] customer relationships and satisfaction so important? That is an effort that has been going on for years. It has been a major driver of our success and it needs constant emphasis and internal activities and programs to keep everyone here pushing toward it."
