Epson Printer - do they make good printers?

Yes! Epson started making printers for the microprocessor market when CPM, control program for microprocessor, was top dog and has consistently built low price high quality printers.

The $2,000 includes warranty, shipping, etc. Are there better deals that anyone is aware of?

The thread is not just about assembling computers. We are interested in putting together or buying a quality/value machine.

We have discussed the big box makers. The consensus of the thread was to stick with DELL, Micron and Gateway if you are going the big box maker route and need the support provided by the above.

What is the intended use? Trading? Web surfing? graphics?

Comments on the Proteva. Generally speaking as I am not familiar with the machine. It looks like a mini or mid case. A bit small IMO if you ever plan on adding a harddrive or CDR or...? Also, what motherboard does it have? How many PCI and IDE expansion slots does it have and how many are available for use? What video card? Is it integrated on the motherboard? What is the make and model of the harddrive?

Even if you do not want to put a machine together yourself you should spend some time investigating the components. If you are buying from one of the big boys or from Proteva, find out what motherboard, video card, RAM, harddrive.. is in the machine.

If you do not need the support contracts I would opt for a customizer. Choose your parts and have an assembler put it together for you.
