As far I know, Datek and Etrade seem to be good on "new" shorts. For old shorts (SRCM,DTLN, ZONA, CCSI, KTEL, ENMD) Datek is useless. Also I ve heard that Dreyfus has a nice list of shortable stocks but I can't prove.

Had no problems shorting INFO, MCOM and especially geron the whole time.

Still, for GMAI nobody has a found anything as I hear.

C.

> I would also like to what broker people used to short GERN the other day when it was at the top. All the brokers I called had none for shorting.

Steve,
When this happens, consider puts. Limited downside, no worries of
being called, liquid market and quick execution when the stock is
trading heavily. In this case, I bought Nov. $20 puts. Percentage
returns greater than on the stock. On the negative side, of
course, the timing issue.

Steve, there is no perfect broker. I shorted INFO on Datek.

I shorted GERN through Ameritrade. That was shocking cause they never have any shares. Looks like KTEL was the stock to short today. Oh well did anyone get any shares?
