rudedog: The cost and time of getting Alta Vista into IPO condition would be considerable. The proceeds, it has been said, would work out at about $2 per share. I would prefer to give up the $2 and keep Alta Vista for all the reasons you have given. AV has enormous potential as an added value to other CPQ products and as a tool for selling CPQ products and as an income earner for CPQ and as a strategic tool in dealings with potential competitors and partners.

Thread - I noticed in the latest issue of PC Magazine that CPQ is now offering built in ADSL modems as a $49 option on their Presario line of desktop PC's. First manufacturer I have seen doing this. Also, the mag had a test of corporate PC's, editors choice (remote management capabilities being the key) was the CPQ desktop, along with HWP's machine....
