I agree with your overall point........BUT, of course there is always a but, the flip side is that you end up with the idiotic "whisper number" that has now replaced reality, in most cases. Controlling the PR machine is part of the game, isn't it?? Wouldn't you rather have a SMOOTHER ride over the next 10 years rather than the roller coaster that is created by setting the bar high and letting the practice of whispers become more and more common place?? As a result of PR control we would end up with an acceptable PE that everyone would accept as reasonable.......this certainly would control the shorts out there. I am NOT telling the company to lie or mislead.......just tone it down a bit. I have turned into a long term investor myself.....as well as trying to ride the roller coaster a bit over the ups and downs. g BTW, my name isn't Larry. :o)
