Uh... capitulation perhaps? You guys know that Sap had a co-marketing arrangement with I2 in 1995-96, right (not sure if the correct term was comarketing - well you get the idea) and Sidhu was constantly making this claim that SCM would eclipse ERP at presentations etc. To be honest, Im not sure its true in traditional mfg - although I do believe that the whole point of ERP seems to culminate in SCM technology, but nonetheless you need ERP for SCM, not the other way around. The question is how extensive does your ERP need to be - ex. Dell has ERP from Chess/Glovia, dinky little package, its good enough for them.

Anyway rumor has it that this constant chanting "were going to overtake Sap" from Sidhu cost I2 their Sap partnership. In actuality Sap mgmt probably finally realized that SCM was needed in house to drive their business.

I agree that traditional ERP is losing steam in favor of the new spaces and the fact that Sap mgmt has embraced this is actually bullish for Sap. I2 would be better off if Sap continued to drive blind.
Michelle

BTW psft executed much better than Sap a few yrs ago with their purchase of RP for SCM but for some reason have not been able to execute there - a big disappointment.

Mohan,

There's a difference between "ERP is outdated" and as is stated in the article "the term ERP is outdated." I'm just wondering what that really meant. I agree with Michelle, if it means that SAP is moving to SCM, it could actually be bullish for SAP, depending on what they have "up their sleeve" in this regard.
