Early on there was lots of speculation that K14 pipe was eclogitic. During the past year, I spoke to a few about the chemistry of the Ashton pipes. Ashton has not made any official comments on the chemistry of the pipe. Unofficially, the pipe indicates the stones are mainly eclogitic. Paragenisus theory suggests that a pipe that is eclogitic will have lower grades (cpht) but will have a better population of larger stones. More importantly I think that you should also have better quality stones. This is one of my secrets why the Ashton pipes have low cpht but will make it up by huge and gem quality stones. K14 had a eclogitic component to the kimberlite. This is very significant if that is so, because all the scientific data that I have access to seems to indicate that most larger diamonds have an eclogitic paragenisus. Both the Orapa and Lethlekane mines in Botswana also have a high similar eclogitic component as K14 and the Lethlekane averages $150 US per carat. Now don't all get excited and buy the stock, this is unofficial and it was one of our secrets why we are so heavy into this stock. I am not sure if Ashton would confirm such a theory.
