MathSoft Launches New Web Store

Partners With Digital River to Ensure Secure Online Commerce, Easy Ordering of MathSoft and Third-Party Software Products

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1998--MathSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:MATH - news), the provider of the broadest line of technical calculation and analytical software for business and academia, today announced the launch of the new MathSoft Web Store. Hosted by Digital River, Inc. [Nasdaq:DRIV - news], the MathSoft Web Store offers convenient, secure access to MathSoft's award-winning software products, including Mathcad®, StudyWorks!(tm) and a wide range of add-on titles and electronic content for educators and technical professionals. MathSoft, which in 1996 became one of the first software vendors to offer online retail sales of its products, partnered with Digital River to advance the Web Store in response to increasing customer preference for purchasing software online.

MathSoft has also redesigned the Web Store to make it even easier for customers to find the software they need. With enhanced customer service and order entry options, a fast-and-easy ''shopping cart'' function that calculates the running price as customers select multiple items from the virtual shelves, and a new level of security, the new MathSoft Web Store makes purchasing any of the MathSoft and MathSoft partner products as simple as a mouse click.

''The unparalleled convenience and speed of online purchasing have made the Web Store an increasingly attractive option for MathSoft's customers,'' said Chris Randles, vice president of marketing at MathSoft, Inc. ''Almost 25% of sales of our add-on titles are made online. Now, by teaming with Digital River, MathSoft offers customers the assurance that their transactions are secure. We anticipate this will make the MathSoft Web Store an increasingly important avenue for our customers to find and purchase the products they require.''

Digital River provides sophisticated electronic commerce technology that allows customers to securely place orders online using a credit card and have the product shipped or downloaded immediately. MathSoft customers using Netscape Navigator 1.0 or later or Microsoft Internet Explorer 1.0 or later browsers can be assured that their transactions are fully encrypted and secure.

Products available through the store include Mathcad technical calculation software; StudyWorks for Mathematics and StudyWorks for Science programs for high school and university students and teachers; and Axum® graphing and data analysis software. A wide range of add-on tools and content designed for specific math, science and engineering disciplines--including signal processing, image processing, numerical methods, wavelets and more--are
also available online.
