I have heard rumors, Moli Energy will produce a laptop battery.

I can't substantiate these. Most of the other competitors are a long way from producing a laptop unit.

Moltech, Sanyo, Sony, and Lithium Technology are still at least a year away from setting up plants, and we know from Valence and Ultralife that it seems to take 1-2 years after installing production equipment to actually achieve good quality production levels.

There are also reports Shubila, a supplier to Samsung, is developing a cellphone unit. I don't know the status of any production capability for Shubila.

Battery Engineering has developed a very small 100 mAh battery, and may be trying to extend this technology to a 1000 mAh unit. These might be acceptable for cellphones, but not laptops. Further, recent reports say they are using cobalt oxide, and this is troublesome from an environmental basis. I don't know what their production status is.

Ultralife seems to be primarily working on a cellphone unit production line. We haven't seen or heard that they have the capability to produce 3-cell laptop units in the 30-45 Wh capability range.

This seemingly leaves the laptop field wide open for Valence at the moment.

Any input on recent production status for these companies would be welcome.
