Pronichev, good question. I found an example of a similar financing made by Castle Creek.

Osicom (FIBR). Castle Creek invested $8 million in FIBR convertible securities in May 1998. Stock price was about $12.50 at the time. The price has since fallen to as low as $1.75, although lately it has rebounded to above $8. I see FIBR has redeemed some of the preferred shares and arranged other financing they describe as more beneficial to their shareholders.
