i had the pleasure of visiting friends in monterey this weekend while on a respite from a seriously lame business trip in left of off-center CA: lemoore, if you've heard of it (or as i 'affectionately' coined it, le less). anyhoo, i picked up a copy of the free local alterna-rag, coast weekly which features two fairly lengthy pieces on whole foods. the cover story is titled, "the whole story?: whole foods claims to be a true alternative to conventional grocery stores. can they deliver on their mission?" this piece primarily focuses on WFMI's anti-union stance, hardline position against some environmental issues (e.g., turtle-safe nets), opinions from disgruntled employees, and the like.
