PC Connection and Compaq Launch Joint Marketing Effort to Increase Products Sales to Small and Medium Sized Businesses

MERRIMACK, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1998--

New "Your Brands...Your Way... Next Day" Slogan Featured

in Joint Ad Campaign

PC Connection, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCCC), a leading direct marketer of brand-name personal computers and related accessories, has teamed up with Compaq Computer Corp (NASDAQ:CPQ) in a joint marketing effort to increase sales and market share of Compaq products in the small and medium-sized business market.

As part of this effort, the latest PC Connection catalog includes a co-branded insert promoting Compaq's business product lines and PC Connection's custom-configuration capability. Using the company's newly unveiled ad campaign, Your Brands Your Way Next Day, the two companies hope to capitalize on their ability to deliver custom-configured systems to end users faster than any other distribution channel in the industry. The 12-page insert will run in PC Connection's November and December catalogs, reaching a full circulation of names.

The joint marketing program includes two additional components aimed at serving the Compaq business customer throughout the purchasing cycle. First, PC Connection has launched a Compaq product web site at pcconnection.com that will provide easy access to full listings and details on Compaq products and programs. Second, as part of the company's outbound managed account program, PC Connection has established a dedicated sales staff to administer and coordinate the Compaq programs.

"PC Connection is taking our long-standing relationship with Compaq to the next level by combining our capability to deliver customized systems to our business customers overnight with the broad range of affordable and high quality systems Compaq offers," said Robert Wilkins, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising at PC Connection. "This was a great opportunity to launch the Your Brands Your Way advertising campaign in our catalog, since it ties in PC Connection's capabilities to provide customers with major brand name products such as Compaq with our ability to fully customize systems for next day delivery."

With 16 years experience serving the business computing customer, PC Connection was one of the first companies authorized to sell Compaq computers in late 1992. PC Connection is also an authorized Compaq Service Center.

"Our joint campaign is based on the strong sell-through of Compaq products we have seen from PC Connection and their ability to quickly and effectively meet the needs of today's small and medium businesses, a market projected to grow at nearly twice the rate of the overall PC market," said Bob Gregerson, Director, Channel Sales, Retail and Mail Order for Compaq.

PC Connection, Inc. is a leading direct marketer of over 25,000 brand-name computer-related products through its catalogs PC Connection (1-800-800-5555) and MacConnection (1-800-800-2222), its comprehensive web site, and its outbound telemarketing division. The company is often recognized for its role as a critical link between manufacturers of computer products and end users. For the second year, PC Connection received the highest ranking of any computer reseller on the list of the "100 Most Influential Companies in the Computer Industry," published in PC Magazine. The Company was founded in 1982 and has sales facilities in Merrimack, Keene, Dover and Hudson, New Hampshire. PC Connection's full-service distribution and custom-configuration center is located in Wilmington, Ohio, providing customers with fully-configured computer systems for convenient overnight delivery.

Well - a couple of points off for 'she' on this one.
. it is now sold under the cpq name & is called armada 7800 series
The former DEC HiNote 2000 is now the Armada 6500. Half-credit for effort though...

But she seems to have a good feel for what's going on culturally, maybe she's a CPQ employee.
