Lucent Digital Video Enters Into
Development Agreement With
Unique Broadband Systems for
New Digital Video Applications

MARKHAM, Ontario & MURRAY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18,
1998--Lucent Digital Video, a wholly-owned venture of Lucent Technologies, has
entered into a development agreement with Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. for new
digital video applications, including new products and end-to-end digital video
solutions. The two companies will work specifically on solutions for digital video in the
areas of terrestrial and satellite distribution.

Unique's Ontario facility will conduct much of the research and development on the joint
projects. Lucent Digital Video will fund Unique's engineering costs. In addition, Andreas
Papanicolaou, president of Lucent Digital Video, has agreed to join Unique's Board of
Directors.

Work has commenced on the initial project. Under terms of the agreement, Unique will
provide transmission equipment and digital video boards as well as systems
integration and custom system design to Lucent Digital Video. Lucent Digital Video will
be the supplier to the customer,
