To all: One of the significant features of the Lanier product will be the ability to record with clarity even with noise in the background. Two colleagues, one using Voice-It and the other a Sony product, both complained about poor recording and subsequently play back for VTT using Dragon System's Naturally Speaking, preferred version 3.0 edition. Their transcriptionists also have problems with the sound quality of each doing it manually. Though we all see ads and others touting their recording products, I doubt any will have the functionality and ease of use of the Lanier product. Unfortunately many bad products are out there making the public doubt the technology is here to make this an easy process. Intel's next CPU's (1st qtr. of 99) using the Katami instruction set will also make VTT work better with L&H, Dragon, and IBM's WR products. NCI welcomes IBM's entrance into portable storage devices with their microdrive. Our OS will allow any customer wanting to place that storage device in their products work better than any other OS.
