"If Roy Sardina thinks that the opportunity cost of developing an fc switch is $35 million
plus or minus what makes any of us think that this company can achieve a share price
of $5 or a market cap of $125 million"

Maybe for the same reason Roy gives the captive value of Brocade at $125M.

Heddon,

It probably didn't cost 3com 100M to develop Ethernet but they have reaped Billions and Billions from it. It may only cost $35M to develop a FC switch, but it also takes time, experience, and foresight.

How stupid do you suppose Vixel feels announcing a switch 6 months after Ancor that is perhaps more expensive and less sophisticated?
Make no mistake, Ancor has recaptured a technological lead and this time they will be captured - but for a price...

Steve

Roy Sardina may work in the FC industry. He doesn't know everything. I haven't heard anything meaningful from him about storage management software. I haven't heard from him what an end to end solution of a FC storage application mean. I haven't heard from him how an enterprise computer center would migrate from their current investments to the future FC setups. He posts for his own agenda. I still wonder why he left Brocade so abruptly. Brocade at that time was the darling of the FC world. He left to start G2 and got into the FC hub business. How many OEMs you heard that G2've won? Ancor's new 8-port switch may as well have all hub makers running scare. The price point per port is just about the same per Ancor switch port vs a hub port.
