In fact WD-40 was the result of a DOD study re those Atlas Misseles and the effort to make them water proof. Great stuff for freeing up stuck exhaust bolts. "I said bring me a wrench, not a wench."

Greg-Re: " Other uses for WD-40:" I just discovered this thread. As a lifelong car nut, I'm glad to find a meeting place for those of us so afflicted. Regarding WD40 for cleaning/preserving firearms. Gun nuts (I'm also one of those) recommend caution using WD40 on firearms,especially if they are stored loaded . WD40 is such an effective penetrant that it is said to contaminate ammunition and render it unreliable if left in contact very long. I'll come back an talk about my car habit later<gg> billwot
