Justa,

Lars: Great summary. One point of clarification. I don't think ROTH Ira's have any mandatory distributions beginning at age 70 1/2. Why you can keep your money there growing tax free until you meet your maker if that is your wish.

Great point. In my haste I didn't explain myself well enough. Not that I will do it now. HA!

I didn't factor in that with the old IRA the gentleman would have to take mandatory distributions at 70 1/2. I have seen some articles here and there that argue for the ROTH because of taxes incurred if you are forced to withdraw as with old IRAs whether you want to or not. I don't know how to figure this in for this case. Again, I think it comes back to quality of life in many cases.

Re: you can keep money there until you meet your maker. That is why this 2 Beta Brinkerhead has converted all of his IRAs to Roth IRAs this year. Ka Ching!

Justa, I am still worried about this environmentalist stuff. HA!!!!!
