To all: Was anyone else disturbed by the way CNBC handled the Dell pre-earnings news on Thursday morning? I was upset enough that I sent the following e-mail on Friday morning. It's just my opinion, but one wonders if such reporting adds to the aura of negativity surrounding the earnings release. If I missed something along the way, please let me know. Also, in the interest of being honest, I sold my Dell before noon on Friday when it was apparent that as good a company as it is, and as good a CEO as Michael Dell is, the stock price was not holding. I will watch it carefully for a buy-in point.

"Please forward this message to the appropriate people and express my extreme displeasure at the way your on-air reporting handled Dell computer yesterday morning. Several times in the 6 to 7 hour, I heard Liz Claiman say that MANY analysts thought Dell would MISS their numbers. Please point out even ONE analyst that said Dell would miss their numbers. Even Kumar said they would do $.28, which is one cent above estimates. His point was that revenue was slowing. But, unless I've forgotten how to count, ONE does not make MANY. You did not produce one other analyst who even hinted at Dell missing their numbers. And with the on-air influence you have with the general public, did it ever occur to you to present some balanced reporting and put on one of the analyst who was positive on Dell? You people have resorted to tabloid journalism, and as such, I'll take my viewing elsewhere."

Just my $.02
