One of the regular contributors to this thread is interested in FRO - sorry I've forgotten who it is.

This from CBS Marketwatch. I think FRO has been mentioned frequently as a merger possibility.

>>Frontier Corp.

The freshest word on Wall Street, looking ahead to another Merger Monday next week, involves Frontier Corp. (FRO), a telecommunications company. Frontier offers communications services such as local and long distance services to some 2 million businesses in North America and Britain. In many ways, the pros say, it's like a mini WorldCom (WCOM).

P. Wohl, an analyst at Standard & Poor's Corp., said last week in a note that the profitable Rochester, N.Y., company could get a merger offer. "We see the company as a takeover target for Baby Bells in 1999," Wohl said in his note to investors.

Another investment pro tells us that Frontier, which expects 20 percent profits growth next year, could get a $40-a-share offer as soon as next week. Such an offer would value the company, excluding debt, at $6.9 billion. The shares sell for 32 1/8.
