rudedog,

That's why I said 2-3 years. Longer term, DELL's outlook is unclear, unless MD spells out the strategic initiatives in fuller details and shows viability of implementation.

I think we differ only quantitatively.

<<<My biggest concern with Dell is that they needed to get out of the box in 2nd half 98 and did not do it, they are playing the other guy's game. There is only so far you can go with end of the pipe execution before someone changes the pipe. I think Dell fell behind the strategy curve over the last 6 months. It is not yet obvious in the business results but will be soon.>>>
Rather wish you would not leave Dell so early in the season before the playoffs begin.
Dell Corp ( a few years back) was once the little kid on the block
up against the big guys, Ibm,Cpq, Dec, Tandem,Hwp- even Tulip and about 5 others who left the game.
What kind of TA, Candlesticks, analysts ratings,P/E's,industry reviews, or projections on past performance could show what Dell would accomplish in the years since 1995 when it was $2/sh(adj.)???
Dell has msot often appeared to be a risky investment, since it was
very often over $100/ sh(up to $170) and considered overvalued,
or going down with the market thus creating great concern because nobody could predict how far the market would drop.
One way to handle those apparent risks is to have faith in the management or in Michael to make best use of the company funds
and to get good returns.
IMO they have done that superbly well, are moving into higher margin products, and have embarked on a major facility expansion effort plus new Web activities.
That is, I don't see them slowing down at this time. Its only about the 3d inning.
