What is a displacement, exactly? Kindleberger defines it as "some outside event that
changes horizons, expectations, profit opportunities, behavior--some sudden advice many
times unexpected."

I do not have a clue.

William has been trying to tell us that we are being "displaced by the new order".
Gosh I wish I could change my old thinking and become one of Williams new order.

James,

You can. Just buy the top tier three long Monday AM at any price. You will be part of the new order. It is simple. In fact, no sense trying to figure out the top three, pick any stock that ends with .com.

Glenn

That's about right, though I don't think "displaced" in the sense of the horse-and-buggy.

I think it's more like the cities' lost growth to the suburbs. A lot of money was made in the suburbs, but the cities didn't disappear. The suburbs flourished because of the 1950's and '60's commuting revolution. E-commerce will flourish because of today's graphical database and telecommunicating revolution.

So do it.
