Thanks for trying to help;

I tried running GETDATA before I checked back in. I crashed the system and now I cannot get WIN98 to run. Sure enough, Pinnacle called almost immediately to help me with the data problems but instead, we spent 30 minutes trying to get WIN98 to work.

It seems I cannot even re-load WIN98 from CD-ROM because the machine won't recognize the drive.

This Neural Net project is obviously ill-fated. I have a brand new machine that will not run, a machine I bought specifically for Profit and for some work I have to do in Dallas this weekend. To be honest, I wish I never heard of Neural Nets at this point in time.

Well, my son has more patience than I do; perhaps he can get the thing back up. As for myself I am dropping the entire thing for awhile.

My computer problems must be legendary. Look at this one, for example; how unbelievable is it that I spend the entire weekend trying to get Pinnacle to work and then almost simultaneously with Pinnacle crashing WIN98 I get a call from Pinnacle to help me. Unreal.

After about an hour on the phone with Gateway the upshot was that I ended up reformatting the machine and re-installing WIN98.

I cannot believe how much time I am spending and I have not even turned Profit or the NGO on yet.

In any event, now that the machine is almost back, Pinnacle is sending me a beta version of a file that apparently will work like the one you mentioned. After I get it hooked in I shall call Rochester back and he will run through it with me tonight.

I don't know if I can touch base with you on it because I have managed to waste so much time already....I'm prone to put it aside, as other things are coming up for me this week. It's a shame, really, because I'd hoped to start the machine on crunching some handwritten stuff. But I cannot afford to lose the machine for this upcoming weekend. I do not wish to go through all this once again as time is tight.

I'll get back to you on this patch as soon as I can spare a minute. At the present rate of progress, actually the progress is really negative, I cannot say I will be able to let you know tonight.

After speaking with Ed Pavia from Pinnacle then Carl then Ed once again I'm okay.

Except although Carl (and you) use DMAKER Ed seems to think it can be done with BUILD*. I'll try BUILD* first.

Noticing you use COT data, I wonder if the fact that it is weekly fouls you up a tad. After all, each Friday you have given Profit an extra 5 days of data which may result in a complete signal change for you.

I was debating whether to use Open Interest for S&P for the past week, to tell the truth. I just discarded the idea a few minutes ago by chance. Preferring instead to spreadsheet it and use it as an external indicator.

Do you think it shall skew your models? After all, Profit will be running data Monday through Thursday without it then suddenly have to go back and adjust for it on Friday.

Appears to me, training and verification will be faulty.
