Jim, I appreciate your input. I'm surprised that this bus architecture issue hasn't been discussed in more detail here given that it is apparently an ongoing debate as we write. You have to believe that, given Dell's very tight relationship with many of their large customers, ANY issue regarding "the pipeline" for data would be aggressively pursued for improvement.

Jim -
Just to clear the air -
I have over 100,000 shares of CPQ and 48,000 of Dell and I have done consulting work on technical strategy with both companies within the last 12 months. I have also provided technical consulting services to Intel, Sun, Novell and MSFT, among others, in the same period and hold stock in Intel and MSFT but not Sun or Novell.

I would like to think that my opinions on the industry and on both companies are relatively unbiased and objective since that is a requirement of the work I am in, but with the above disclosure, people can make up their own minds about what ax I am grinding...

I will also tell you that I know a lot more than I can disclose about the topics I am discussing here and that it is my intent to present as accurate a view of the facts as I can within my non-disclosure constraints, for others to use as they see fit. I have no interest in influencing anyone else's investment decisions and certainly don't suggest that others follow my lead in that area as I am a novice investor compared to others on this thread.
