patt, Half the reason for forecasting Y2k problems in a timely manner is to raise enough serious awareness that the truly major problems are acknowledged and attended to. The other half of the reason for forecasting Y2k problems in a timely manner is to raise enough serious awareness that if the truly major problems are not acknowledged and attended to we aren't left completely unprepared. It's perhaps best not to think of the Y2k in terms of right or wrong. Is it right or wrong to take note of a smoking building and ring up the fire dept? Is it right or wrong, having become aware of the probabilities and costs of certain risks, to purchase some insurance against those risks?
