tippet, several months back I have indicated that this BULL will end only wen unemployment will rise.

Presently we are on the top with a start of sliding down, slowly un accounted for yet but the direction has changed. You start hearing of layoff from companies all over in the US and Europe.

One of the major issues the market is missing is that the "aid package" to Brazil will drive this 160 million strong nation in recession. Venezuela and Peru are on the verge. Those countries are very big trading partners to the US and I bet you it will pull this economy down.

With stock prices so high and more than a year out for a stabilization in SE Asia the downdraft will start moving sooner than later.

Interest rates are always acting as a double edged sword. This time lowering them will not help a lot if profitability of companies can not be sustained.

For example, DuPont already trades at "relative' astronomical P/E and we are not in a recession yet <ggg>

Tippet, (Globex is up this am - 50 DOW points or so)

The BTD theme:

"Ours is not to reason why, ours is just to buy and buy!"

So trying to related the effects of the economy to a market driven by BTDers is like trying to predict the weather 6 months in advance using your gout as a gauge!

(I am calling for a hard winter...)

BWDIK????
