The Forbes article is ever so slightly innacurate in places. It is unfair to Slackware which has an excellent package removal and addition tool, but of course if you are not installing a binary you have to learn compilation of interdependent packages in many cases and that is not a-b-z. Also slack is version 3.5 now and its window managers come up right away, you do not have to configure them. There is some advantage to doing things the slackware way but a complete system upgrade requires a back up and reinstall, you cannot just RPM it to Nirvana as RedHat Advertises. I would agree 75% with their conclusions on the whole though. They mention Applixware favourable. I understand THOMAWAT bribed the journalist with a case of Newfie Screech to do that.

I heard recently where Free Solaris 2.6 is out and it is very bug free. Sun Solaris is as hard to learn as Linux but it is a formidable competitor to Linux. Watch out.
