Spent the later part of last week in Vegas. Media One (if I recall correctly) was littering the airwaves with ads touting the "hyperspeed" cable modems. They teamed with CompUSA to provide a modem and installation for $199 provided you sign up for 3 months (price for access not mentioned). This ad campaign (which is likely occurring in other markets) and cable gaining market share in high-speed internet access will be the fire under the RBOCs' pants to move on ADSL rollout.

PAIR is testing with US West in the Mountain region. Should hear soon RE outcome. Had a few minor glitches in the past which their talented group of engineers should be able to address (crosstalk - background noise which sometimes interferes with the communication).
