I believe when I ordered a couple Dell's four years ago I did not have to pay sales tax. I'm in CA and Dell is in TX. The one that I ordered last month, I did have to pay sales tax.The sales rep said something to the effect that Dell has sales operations in every state except two and they now need to collect sales tax.

Love the qualtiy though. My office has had bad experiences with Gateways and Acers. They just don't seem to be as robust as the Dells. My new Dell is awesome.

Dont most businesses like the flexibility of build-to-order. I know Wallmart offers BTO computers, but I have not been to a Circuit City or Best Buy for a while.
