MERCK split: Well, at some point it becomes nearly impossible for small investors (whatever that is) to buy more than small lots of 10 -50 shares. Unless they want to be a Berkshire Hathaway, I suspect that they have some ideal cap at which they will find things too rich for access. Recent breakout made me add a few hundred shares w. covered calls at 155. Even last year, the three-digit barrier seemed to be out of range for most drug stocks. Now, its commonplace, given the tremendous run-up in prices. BTW, I loved WLA's 3-1 split earlier this year. I want to have "thousands" of shares of MRK, someday. I know split is like having four quarters for a buck, but lower price helps increase ownership distribution (my unsubstantiated opinion) and decrease the options premiums.
