Goldbug, of the total shares shorted, how many are owned by institutions and how many by individuals? Also, how many individuals and institutions have shorted;ie, one, two, three institutions/individual investors, or ???

Scary? -- that's good news. Means that there will be a huge amount of future buyers out there.

Goldbug, that's silly. You need to look at it from the point of view of percentages. For example, if Worldcom split two for one it would displace Dell as being the most shorted. Besides, having a large short position doesn't portend anything except the potential for a short squeeze should some exceptionally good news break.

PS, you can't short Boston Chicken because it is under $5.

>There's more people shorting DELL than Boston Chicken.<

Absolute number of shares short is meaningless - much more meaningful metrics are:

Short shares/shares outstanding: Dell: 0.04 (4% of shares); BOST: 0.29 (29% of shares!!!).

Short shares/daily volume Dell: 1.5 days (in one and a half days, the short sellers could buy back their shares); BOST: 14 days.

By either metric, people are much more negative about BOSTQ then DELL.

This was the second such message, so I had to respond <vbg>
