Every year at about this time, my age goes up. I can't figure out how to stop it. Surely you jest about Jim Carreker being a socialist. He is a philanthropist if anything. It looks like PACT is a church organization. However, I know that he believes that it is good business to interact with and support the local community. He also gave 8 million dollars to Georgia Tech a couple of years ago. I think the fact that he has these instincts is a positive for the company. I was thinking about giving 8 million to CAL but there are two problems: The first is that I don't like the Chancellor and his hands off David Cash approach. The second is-------well, its too embarassing to say, but I think you can guess.

Here is the ASPT 101 mid-term exam question:
What effect, if any, do you expect those still outstanding 3976 put contracts which expire on Friday to have on the near term price of the stock? Whoever owns those is playing for $397,600 per point. There is a special urgency about price movement because they expire on Friday. After Friday, we might all be on the same team but I don't think we are there yet. I really am not completely sure about the strategy involved on the part of the buyer. Was this just a big bet on the downside in anticipation of an expected so-so earnings report? Is the transaction hedged in any way other than by owning the convertible debentures? Imponderable except by someone more knowledgeable about options strategy than I am. What role, if any, did certain analysts have in insuring that the stock would go down? Finally, is anyone leaning against the price of the stock by strategic short selling? It's had difficulty making any real headway against an $18 price point lately. I have been anticipating a 3 point up day in the near future. Maybe that wont be really possible until after Friday. I don't actually know about any of the above. Just thinking out loud.

Alright, if that was too hard here's the make up exam: Who said this and where? "I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen." Also said this: "Look Dave, I can see your really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill and think things over." Hint: Not me talking to anyone on this board.
