I must say I haven't been following the others as close as I have Aware for some time now, but...

(1) From this point in time and the price Aware is at I need to re-examine my thoughts on this, things have changed a lot in the last few weeks. Aware has run up and I'm not sure where the top is or when it will get there. I expect a lot of news from the show this week in regards to xDSL. Tim just posted CPQ news tonight.

(2) ADSL is a technology not completely owned by anyone. It utilizes both hardware and software. Many companies have applications and products to implement it. Patents are owned and cross licensed, licensed and software done the same. Some of this is really a horse race, and it depends if you happen to place your money on a winner or not. As far as hardware goes in regard to modems, the best horse to bet on hasn't even come to the gate...3Com/USR. So I'm a bit hesitant in that area. Bear with my rambling. The chip side of hardware may be a better place to invest at this point...I don't know really. ADI, LU, TXN or others.

(3) As far as fees AWRE may be getting in regard to IP royalties, I'd guess they have a fee for the first 100,000 units and a 1.5% charge for each unit (chip or chip set) after that. But those fees would vary based on volume and other factors. Those are guesses on my part. I have some other info. on fees and/or charges but am not sure if it's accurate...and won't repeat it. AWRE is involved in the G. Lite portion of ADSL as it pertains to splitterless, that's what makes G. Lite...G. Lite.

I'm rummy and must turn in now.
