Hi Antoine, I have seen one of the gadgets in Best Buy, basically just one of those monitor screens with touch features, and a keyboard. I would call it a kiosk. You select the features you want, it is processed by Compaq and built to order. Not sure if it is shipped to you or Best Buy, my guess would be to your address. I am sure Best Buy gets a cut. When I tried to use it, it was not connected yet, that was maybe a month ago, so I went to MicroCenter and bought a new Compaq off the floor that had everything I wanted, really a lot more than I wanted, and was cheaper than a Dell, anyway.

(I was unwilling to wait because I was working on taxes, had bought all new software and it wouldn't work on my 486 home office computer (Gateway), got really frustrated and impatient. I have a PII at the office, but I wanted to work at home.)(Tried an I-Mac while I was at it, maybe Macs used to be easier than PCs, but not now, IMHO. I would say they are just like Windows, but I know it's the other way 'round. Plus, the mouse sucks.)

Circuit City also has a build to order kiosk, it also was not connected when I was interesting in buying a computer.

I should note that I could not find one employee knowledgeable about computers in Best Buy, or Circuit City. The employees in the television section and stereo equipment section are generally helpful. This doesn't really bother me because I can get info I need another way, but I feel sorry for computer novices.
