Watching the tape (actually, datek's real-time streamer data on THQI) leads me to think that there are a lot of weak hands/implusive buyers and sellers who are currently trading the stock. (What else is new, eh?) Pauses are met by rapid jockying for position by those trading under 1000 shares at a pop. Little guys are getting nervous at the pauses, making it easy for market makers to shake them out and re-buy the shares that they likely had to short at the opening to meet demand.

FWIW, I sold a good part of my position after TA worries 10 days back, and started re-buying this AM. My cost basis went up significantly as a result, and I left over $2k on the table getting cute. Ah well, I should have known better than to take this approach with this very jittery-trading issue with terrific FA. :) I need more TA knowledge and more luck before I can swing or day-trade it sucessfully on anything other than a periodic irrational plunge (and there always eventually seems to be one of those.)

For this stock in particular, I'm coming back home to Kory's approach once again.

<<<< 95% of GAPS are filled,<<<<

But part of that is just statistical random walk phenomenon. Take any opening price.... gap or no gap, what are the chances that a price of say $1/4 under the opening will be touched again some time in the future? It must be very high. So that phenomenon ie. prices move both up and down may be responsible for most gaps being filled.

One could just as easily say that the space $1/4 above or below a gap will be touched again some time. What are the odds of that happening? It may be the same as the odds of the gap being filled. And of course if gap filling is religion, then it may be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Does anyone have any data on this?
