Mainland reserves soar on crackdown

scmp.com

<< The mainland's foreign exchange reserves rose sharply last month after remaining stagnant since the beginning of the year, suggesting that the government's severe crackdown on forex frauds and illegal capital outflows has started to produce results.

Forex reserves rose to US$143.7 billion at the end of October, up by $2.6 billion from the end of September, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday, quoting Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao as saying.

The rise was impressive given that reserves rose by $1.2 billion from January to September. >>

Amazing what a simple threat to turn you into an organ donor does to a forex speculator!
