I Was Just Thinking ..... and, no, I have not read a hint of this anywhere ..... just my own "out-of-the-box" radical analysis ..... but you read it here first.

If Windows NT 5.0 and Merced continue to be "vaporware" for the near future (12 months plus) - and NT 5.0 will not be a very reliable or complete product when it is released, what are the chances that IBM, Hewlett Packard, Compaq, Dell etc. will be forced to license Solaris from Sun as their large server OS to avoid losing hardware server sales to Sun?

or would/will Sun refuse to license Solaris?

..... wouldn't it be nice?
