Mika,

Bloototh has a potential to be useful for devices that don't have wireless data capability. Very few wireless phones in the future will have this handicap. So if a device already has a data capability, why add another, infra-red link?

As far as combining number of components into one device, it only makes sense when there is a reason for it. If you always always use 2 components, and combining them into one makes the resulting device lighter and if the resulting device can share some components, it makes sense. I would not advocate adding a electric shaver to Qualcomm pdQ or Nokia 9000.

TV's, Hi-Fi, computers and phones have already been tried as a combined item. It is not accepted yet, but maybe one day... Separate technology, will let you choose the best component of each. It is a good idea, no?

I generally like the idea of picking the best components, but you mentioned appliances where size, weight and number of boxes are not a consideration. With portable devices, these are very important.

Joe
