Mike, Laffer is not an economist. He's a "policy entrepreneur". Krugman is an economist. (And there's
a whole book by Krugman, "Peddling Prosperity", on essentially
that subject.) O.K., it's also about why Robert Reich and
Lester Thurow aren't economists either. You see, they don't
have PhD's in Economics -G-.

Seriously, it's a good book--a little too simplified for public
consumption for my taste, but that's life, and the guy is RAZOR SHARP.

We just got Epstein's version of why Krugman didn't have much
to say about the Austrians in that article. Knowing how journalism
works, it could really be quite different. (For all we know, he
told GE they are FOS and that's why -G-).

What would you say is (are?) the essential books in Austrian
economics? You know, the Austrian equivalent of "The General
Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money"?

Was also looking for something by Hayek or von Mises the other day when I bought Krugman's book, but they didn't have anything -G-.

Cheers,

HB

Mike, I know you have a Ph.D. from Wharton, I was assuming it was in economics. Right or wrong? CobaltBlue
