On Friday July 25, 1997 the Texaco Board of directors raised quarterly dividend and approved a 2 for one stock split. The announcement was was dated July 31, 97. The split became effective on September 29 for stockholders on record on Sept 11, 1997. Stock was around 120 on Sept 10. Stock was bouncing around form 112 to 122 from July to Sept if I recall.
Let me know if you have any questions. Stock really hasn't increased since split. I still double the current price of Texaco in my mind to reference my holdings now and before split.
