Software encoding on the PC is a misnomer.

But remember, you are free to chose any subset of MPEG tools.

In their case, the subset that does not include motion compensation in the traditional sense. More like motion guessing.

Putting the motion estimator in the graphics controller makes more sense, but don't tell Intel -- they have a vector match instruction (8 samples/clock) in KNI. Even with that, I'd say 352x240 at best.

Ligos. Saw their latest stuff at NAB. D1 video (720x480x30 fps) on a P3-500 !!

They should change product name from GoMotion to "Goal: Motion".
