Is there a prize for guessing the analyst? Cabi strikes again. Boy is he going to be surprised soon--big announcement coming that is likely to have major adverse impact on acceptance of Ericy W-cdma.

Cabi just doesn't get the big picture; wireless is so much more than cell phones and data transmission as we conceive of it now.

Re - We believe that ultimate success of operating systems for wireless devices will be determined by current market share of devices in the field. We estimate Ericsson, Nokia and Motorola to have a cumulative market share of nearly 70% while QUALCOMM has less than 5%.

That has to be one of the dumber things I've seen when it is made in reference to a Microsoft project. Think Lotus 1-2-3, Wordperfect, Netscape, Stac, ... . This is not an endorsement of Microsoft's tactics, but realistically it is a very very bad idea to bet against them.

Note that this also show's the analyst's (Cabi?) misunderstanding of the JV. It isn't about handsets per se, but about being an ISP for businesses (a service provider) which allows he two parents to sell equipment and software. This JV is better compared to EDS or AOL or even the remade IBM, rather than a handset provider.
