>>>>>What do they say about investment opportunities based on companies dealing with Y2K issues?<<<<<

Sorry, NI, I only listen to the program when I am driving, and most of it goes in one ear and out the other. They do mention companies, but I couldn't name one of them. Coincidentally, the Y2K show was on this morning after I posted, on my way to work. They were talking about local government responses to Y2K problem, how local governments think they are Y2K compliant if their computers are Y2K compliant, but they are not because of embedded chip problem, the most significant problem being mentioned were chips in traffic light systems, fire trucks and ambulances. They did mention that, due to fact that municipal bonds are a significant factor in securities industry, SEC was requiring municipalities to certify Y2K compliance. So, 1/1/00 the municipalities may be finding that traffic lights, etc., are not working, without having budgeted for it.

Not being a programmer, I don't understand why a chip cares what year it is. If next year was 2001, the chip wouldn't care, so why does it care about 2000?
