re: selling stock:
No, I'm selling covered calls instead.
I think it will go down because Wall St no longer seems to consider DELL the darling and is snubbing its collective nose at the earnings. The earnings, IMHO were wonderful and DELL is wonderful. But you must admist DELL's shares have been so good to us, so very, very good. I know for me, as a fairly new investor who has made many many mistakes. its only DELL that has saved me from being down from Aug highs (and indeed my 403B, run by mutual fund pros IS down from Aug high).
Will it be that good to us again?
Of course.
But not right now. Look at the chart for DELL since the summer: look at clearstation (http://www.clearstation.com) and see the different charts. Then compare with pricing at other earnings times and other split times. You will see that DELL is much calmer at times that should bring out dramatic highs, than it has been. I just think that this next period will be flat and even a little down, as others begin to be disappointed that they are not getting their usual "DELL high".
I could be wrong, but my intuition (unlike my panic responses) has been ok.
The 50's will be a good buying opportunity but I'm getting maxed out and will just rebuy the LEAPS and calls I sold, and presumably get them much cheaper than I sold them.
