Irby, Not too hard to see where this is headed and who it is directed against, especially after that WSJ article a while back about Island looking at discount brokers and vice-versa. I expect the discounters will be making a major play to take a big piece of the EDT market for themselves. They'll also have one advantage the Terra Novas, etc don't have right now: the ability to add order flow MM executions in addition to everything else. That would make a nice addition to the SelectNet and SOES options in hard to execute markets. Wonder if the MBs of the world may be thinking of cutting discount MM deals in the future themselves? Traders will benefit greatly by the competition and, no doubt, there will be a major shakeup of the EDTs in the next 18 months. Sort of like WalMart showing up in a small town. Alan
