VARs Screwed by Assembly & Service Plans as well

You do make valid points when dealing with Box Pushers.
Many VARs Don't sell any white box brands, and they are
now expected to have their $125/hr billible technicians
build Compaq clones in the VARs office. Needless to say,
that will NEVER happen. As for VAR's servicing Compaq,
equipment, they do get parts next day, but they don't get
PAID for more then 2 months after the service incident.
I'm speaking of VARs that offer the full gambit of Network
Integration services for their clients, not box pushers
who will gladly sell Compaq clones if it will generate
more interest than their white boxes currently do. You
may buy in bulk from a box pusher, but when your Networks
being built, or in need of serious troubleshooting, if you
don't have a good Network Integration VAR, you might as
well take a sick day. Those are the grass roots people
that generate Compaq loyalty, not the Box pushers that
would just assume switch to MacIntosh's should they become
popular enough and marginable enough to bother. With all
due respect, Hewlett Packard treats their VAR's well, they
just make if Very tough to be one, that's all. As for IBM,
I can't say I've dealt with them, so I'll give you that one.
Compaq will make any moron a VAR, as long as he pushes $25K
of inventory per quarter. Hell, with those requirements, I
should be my own VAR...
