Network Computing To buy Tektronix Unit

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Reuters) - Network Computing Devices Inc. (Nasdaq:NCDI - news), said today it has agreed in to acquire the network displays business unit of Tektronix, Inc., that produces Windows-based terminals, network computers and other thin client computing systems and software.

Network Computing Devices, which makes thin client hardware and software, said terms of the purchase-of-assets transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Located in Beaverton, Ore., the Tektronix unit employs about 130 people. Network Computing Devices said in a release it ''plans to ask most of the Tektronix employees to join NCD after the transaction closes in December.''

Tektronix is a $2.1 billion company which designs, develops, manufactures and markets measurement, color printing, video and networking products.

I have found in the time I have been in the market----this type of news doesn't generally drive the market.
