The trades were still done with the marketmakers, the only difference is that you lose all the money..

They are 100% liable for the profits, I would send them a letter immediately, and file an arbitration if they don't pay you...

I guarantee you that had the stock opened up,,...they wouldn't be in any hurry to cancel your trade and would expect you to pay the loss....they wouldn't even talk about it..actually

Dale,

They did the same to me! If AVCO was not marginable could they not have decided that by Friday? Why wait until Monday? To see which way it goes?

Who here bought AVCO on Margin?
Did your broker then bust your trade because they decided it was not marginable?

Looks like the broker & MM's are the only ones insured of profits in their trades.

If you have a problem with your broker, here's information about filing a complaint with NASD:

nasdr.com

There's also a link to arbitration information from that page.

Your short must have been from Thursday afternoon - even worse.

E*Trade just reversed my short from Friday afternoon

On Friday AVCO didn't trade.

Good luck with your arbitration/lawsuit, whichever you choose.

I thought only Datek breaks trades. Datek did in other cases but they did within 3, 4 hours. But 4 days, this sucks!
